I have never believed in it. My parents have been together for over 34 years yet I do not believe in marriage and I never have. If I think about it, it would be because most couples I know end up either hating each other but stay together or divorced. The chances of finding that one person that you will be with for the rest of your life not likely.

I've seen every relationship around me crumble from my mom and dad's, to close relatives, to grandparent's relationship. I also don't trust men because I grew up watching my father, uncle, and grandfather treat women like trash and I refuse to let that be me in those women's positions.
I've been lied to by guys myself and I feel like OK so if I get married, then I'm stuck with this. Then what if I have a child, is it fair for he or she to see this and grow up with two people who can't stand each other? In my present single life, the minute I feel as though I've had it with whatever I don't like, I just say "GOODBYE, nice knowing you!" and keep it moving However, in a marriage, it's not that easy.
I could be wrong but I think that a lot of other people have seen or been through what I have described above as well so they might feel anti marriage. For the people who want to get married, go ahead I have nothing against you, but I'm just not rushing out to do it.

Marriage does something that being single doesn't,
it cramps one's style to say the least not that infidelity
in a mere relationship is gonna fare any better, because
the thruth is you can go with some one for ever but
there still like an aquaintence untill you marry them,
11 months in a relationship tells one nothing 'till they get
married in the twelfth month . . .

Because it is so unnatural. There is a reason most fail. Any man who has seen his wife gain 50 pounds and stop having sex , or a woman who'shusband doesn't do his share of the work or cheats on her will tell you how much it sucks, and those are very common experiences.

Because these days nobody has the faith of marriage any more. Besides, the process of getting a divorce is really a hassle.

Something has dissuaded them from seeing the positives of marriage. Like other things, you can get traumatized and only see the negatives. You only see what you want to see and some people walk around with blinders on 24-7.

I don't think there are as many people like this as there appears to be. I think many singletons just have times when they feel lonely and wonder if they'll ever meet someone who can make them happy, and instead of expressing their true feelings about the matter, they try to be abrasive about it and make comments like "Marriage sucks. I don't want it, anyway!"

Because of the high divorce rate and not too many good example marriages that are around them. Maybe they came from broken homes and they do not want to repeat the pattern.
