so after all the gifts are opened, the kids want to start playing with their new toys. So they look at mommy and say "can you open this?" I look at the boxes and smirk.. I HATE the packaging! The toys have da mn near been welded into the packaging and you need every tool imaginable to get them out, screwdrivers, wire cutters, sissors... My son got a RC car and I had to use a screwdriver to undo a metal sensor on the bottom so that the can had less risk of being stolen from the store... Barbie and bratz dolls are embedded into the packaging with wire, thread and those zip ties... *sigh* am I ready for this??

Yeah, they do this to prevent thieves in the stores from ripping the packaging and stuffing them down their pants because the sensors are on the inside.
Anyways, they actually make certain cutters for packaging like those. I've seen them at Wal-Mart and other stores and they're for the elderly that can't open the plastic force field holding their beloved Spiderman action figure inside.
But yeah, I hate them too.

I hate unpacking all the presents from boxes as well...You may want to consider trying to neatly (LoL easier said than done) opening the toys, getting all the crap off of there, put the toys back into the boxes and then wrap your presents. Some years I have gotten lucky and can get away with doing it that way..Then there isn't as much stress on Christmas day. Good luck, as you and every other parent including me will need it.

Open the gifts out of the package and THEN wrap them! We discovered this a few years ago with my niece when her baby doll was in a package that the jaws of life needed to open. Trust me, they won't notice the presents aren't in their boxes.

lol Just tell them: "in a minute honey" and then pretend to be busy. If they really want their toys, they'll find a way. That's what my parents did with me, I opened all my toys and had to unwrapped every little things. Just gotta learn to be more independant!

Keep a smile on your face for the sake of the kids. Then run into the kitchen for a drink.

the trick is to undo most of them before you wrap it up. just leave the necessary ones in place. put batteries in the box before wrapping too, saves searching for them on Xmas day.

I would say no, because my children are 7,6,3, and 1. I volenteered to work so I don't have to deal with it. I told my husband I will wrap them up and he can help them get it open
