World leader? No. Politician, not really, other than the fact that he was able to arrange for the money for his ships from the Queen and King of Spain. He was an explorer looking for a route to the far east and china. He believe the Earth was round and that a shorter route to China and India could be achieved by sailing west. His calculations of the size of the Earth were off dramatically. He died believing that he had found the route he was looking for and that the natives he encountered were primitives on islands off the coast of China.

because of the fact he wasn't searching for the recent worldwide or the different such element. He replaced into incredibly under settlement from Ferdinand and Isabella searching for treasure and replaced into attempting to locate a shorter thank you to India to get spices. that's why we call the interior of reach individuals "Indians". given this is the call he bestowed on them. additionally, he did not incredibly land in u.s., he landed in Cuba. So incredibly, each and every thing he got here upon replaced into by utilising mistake and regardless of if we owe a lot to him, he's quite hyped up.
