Thank god for rappers like Mos Def, Common, Talib Kweli and Litle Brother.

I like eminem, the old 50 cent, Plies, D-12 and a few underground rappers. Back in the 90's it seems that it was a different vibe, unlike now. I like the change, i can deal wit both. But a favorite thing of mine, for rap is when they're desperate for $$. Like back in the 90's and mid 2000's Eminem was the bomb. He need the cash, and his sound was great. Rhymes were hot and fiery... But the Re-up to me was a flop. A few songs were good, but it's not that same fire. I do agree MOST rappers today have NO personality!!

To me Rap is poetry with real music! It's delightful basically I'm going to sum it up and say it's purely Orgasmic :) The haterz of rap. Some reasons people say they hate rap is they say all it talks about is Pu$$y Money and Weed. Also Hoes and hookers. Honestly rap is more than that. They are just listening to the wrong music. Anywayz other reasons people hate rap is because they say it takes no talent to do it. I think that is bull sh*t. If it took no talent then everyone in the world would be able to spit rhymes so easily. What I don't understand is why they are listening to it? Honestly I hate Mainstream and I think Lil Wayne Ruined it! - Sorry for taking so long to type it down-

I agree with you on the sad and no personality part. Unless you call being ugly to their own race, degrading to women, and sounding ignorant a personality. I grew up in the 80's and used to love old school rap like Doug E. Fresh (All the Way to Heaven), Run DMC (My Addidas), The Beastie Boys, etc ... That was fun music you could dance to and didn't have angry, hateful or hurtful messages.

I am a teacher and I cannot stand kids listeing to this horrid stuff that glorify's killing cops .. hating your mother ... and calls women "ho's". And people wonder why youth today are more violent and crime continues to rise in minority neighborhoods instead of getting better. It even helps to fuel more racisim and that's the last thing we need. Things have gotten worse - not better - in my opinion and much of this angry music is part of the problem.

Say what you want about peoples choices, but any young mind that listens to this stuff repeatedley is going to be affected ... we've already proven that through research. The rappers don't care ~ they're rich off expoliting minors and their own people ... it won't stop until people chose to stop supporting them.

Peace to you ...

I enjoy the old school rap of the 80's right up until about 1999/2000 with few exceptions. Most of the rap put out after that era seem to be getting away from what made it's predecessors so great. Original rhymes, flow, beats, and topics.

I don't like gangster rap. I dislike the fact that the old and true
oral tradition passed down through the ages has denigrated into a tool to repress woman. It just means for all of the posturing, rappers have taken their place with the rest of corporate america. do em in for the cash.

Love most rap, but hate how all freaking rap videos are the same, grills, rims, hot chicks, now look these are all things many guys can enjoy but how about some originality??? Don't just wave your bling in my face, be creative, i.e. RKelly's "in the closet" now that was funny. I agree with the lack of not so much personality but more originality, they are all the same.... I did like Kanye's Stronger video, something other than chicks, rims, and grills lol!

I'm with you on this one big guy......I sound like Carlton. Rap now just makes me think that I can really put out an album with minimal effort and go platinum. You know what else cracks me up? Remember everyone was gettin on Ma$e and Puff excuse Diddy for dancing and shiny suits? Now everyone has a dance and the clothes are as bright as ever.

Many of them do, its just not the bubble gum pop-rap you hear on the radio.

If you listen to Lupe Fiasco, a rapper that harkens back to true rap with a message(even most of the late 90's was just clever marketing and 'gangsta' romance)

(whens the last time you hear 'gangsta' and 'harkens' in the same sentence, hahahahaha)

I don't like alot of new rap due to the "hoe's and money and drugs" stuff. I listen to underground more for stuff that actually has meaning and such.I mean dont get me wrong there are some new rappers that actually put meaning in to thier songs but not alot.....
kanye west is an example his new cd has meaning!

I like rap - I like the beat, the rhymes (in some), and the poetry (the way that the words are used and played). I do not like it when rappers degrade women, ethnicity, or advocate violence or gang action. Early rap was the best, definitely!!
