Can you please get more specific with this question? Are we talking about in relationships, or just in general. In relationships, I need affection. If I didn't need affection from the guy, he'd just be a friend. As far as other people, I'm am one of the least physically affectionate people out there. I just really don't like people touching me.

I grew up without a lot of love, being hugged, kissed or even told I was loved. You would think it doesn't matter but you would be surprised at the importance affection is to a person. For one it shows acceptance....we all want to be liked right?
Affection for me is like having a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of milk before I go to bed...highly important as it rejuvenates me, encourages me to believe in myself and my goals, makes me feel loved and so much more.
I have two dogs that lavish me and kids and grandkids and when they are not around I miss the affection terribly. When it isn't there I feel as if I am slowly fading into oblivion.

It's important in my romantic relationships, but I don't need it constantly. I'm not particularly a fan of public displays of it although holding hands is fine.
update: oh, you're talking about pets and family too. Well, I give my pets affection all the time and I hug relatives.

to me affection is important in a courting. If I have been pressured to stay without intercourse, then i ought to presented I nevertheless had affection. No affection and that i'm being starved and sorting out of the courting. females view affection as a thank you to be intimate and it facilitates us bond with our spouse and babies. Your spouse is telling you that she has a want which you're no longer assembly. (BTW: in the experience that your spouse is like maximum females i understand, then being greater affectionate along with her gets you plenty---and that i recommend plenty--greater intercourse than you're starting to be now.) i'm speaking carry her hand once you're strolling someplace collectively. Kiss her and not assume it to bring about intercourse (oddly adequate, that form of kissing once you do no longer assume something for it often does bring about some fantastically warm intercourse--a minimum of it does for me any way...) as to the affection alongside with your son. Pat him on the pinnacle, tell him "atta boy" whilst he's earned it, renowned him in some way if the actual component is off placing to you. tell your spouse which you will artwork on letting your son understand which you savour and price him yet that being bodily demonstrative with babies purely isn't the way you have been raised and you're uncomfortable with it. tell her you will artwork on appreciating her greater (yet provided which you recommend it--do no longer deceive her or make fake delivers) enable her understand that issues at artwork are challenging and you're drained and you each each now and then neglect concerning to the human beings you care approximately. Then tell her something you will like her to do greater of..... good good fortune.

It's important when it's coming from my friends and colleagues. But when it comes from my family, it's just plain annoying.

My friends, not so much.
My boyfriend, I love cuddling. :)
My pets, of course, they're very cuddly birds and would probably be pissed at me if I didn't give them affection. :)
