You probably have a loose or corroded wire or connector going from the control solenoid to the burner valve.
This happened to an old furnace I had that I eventually replaced. It had an electric starter (spark generator), and it would constantly ignite - go out - ignite - go out ... I had an HVAC company out to look at it and they replaced the control solenoid assembly. But, it eventually went back to being sporadic.
Finally, I opened it up (after shutting off the power disconnect, of course) and traced the wires from the solenoid to the burner valve. Sure enough, it was covered with greenish-white powder (copper corrosion). I removed the wire, and cut off and replaced the corroded connection, plus a couple inches of wire in case the corrosion had traveled up the wire a bit. After replacing the wire, the furnace worked fine until I replaced it a couple years later.
A word of warning, though: I'm not an HVAC technician, but I used to be an electronics technician in the Navy and later at a cable TV company. Back in the day, I used to work on live (450 volt) nuclear instrumentation panels. So, I was comfortable tearing into an old furnace and troubleshooting it without ever actually seeing the inside of it.
But, if you're not experienced with electrical or electronic repair, don't even think of going into the furnace and poking around. Call a licensed HVAC technician. It will cost you a few bucks. But, the peace of mind that the furnace has been fixed properly by a licensed technician is priceless.

It sounds like the furnace control board is bad. For a step by step troubleshooting guide as well as a control board replacement guide, check out the furnace page at my source.

You really do need to get a registered person to check it out. If it is not working correctly you could even be poisioned my carbon monoxide gas. Dont use it until it is sorted, it might just need cleaning but it is far to important to not get get it fixed.
