I'm doing a report on elephant poaching and need some info.
What weapons do they use? Where do they do it? Do they hunt at night or in the day?

They tend to use automatic rifles, mainly something like an AK-47. From there once the elephants are down they use chainsaws and large knives to finish the job and obtain the parts that they need or want be it meat, bones or tusks.

The majority of the poaching is done at night because elephants have poor night vision. Plus it makes it easier to get in and out of areas under the cover of night. Though there is poaching done during the day too, it is just the bulk with elephants is done at night.

As far as where, well sadly any location that there are elephants that they can get to. In the wild or in a protected park, it does not matter with poachers.
