The exact same thing happend to me I bled up until the time I was supposed to get my next shot and I refuse to ever in my life get the shot again. Nor offer it to anyone else. I also dont really know how long it would take to get pregnant after using the shot because I never tried getting pregnant after using it. But I do know that I am 8 months pregnant now so it is possible to get pregnant no it didnt ruin you for life. That is what I was scared of. Otherwise I would give it a year. If you dont get pregnant in a year consult your doctor.

I used the Depo Shot 6 years ago, dunno how different it is nowadays. I was on it for about a year. When I stopped getting the shot, I bled for about 3 weeks to a month. This was normal. My doctor explained it to me that the shot makes your body think you're pregnant & does not produce any more eggs is why you don't have a period or at least a normal one, so you may still get the same symptoms during and after the shot as well. I did not get pregnant after the shot, I was just really careful. It should be the same after the post partum. Allow yourself up to 6 weeks to start ovulating like normal again. Everyone's different though. Hope this helps. Good luck!!

Depo is evil! LOL! I had a friend that got off Depo and it took her 9 months to get pregnant. Depo is also believed, not proven, to cause a form of infertility. Not just waiting for it to get out of your system, a form that will affect you for the rest of your life... most commonly Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, but not always of course.

Remember anything worth doing is worth waiting for.

I was told by the doctor that you need to go off the shot 12 months prior to trying for a baby, and use birth control pills for that year.
