I know I shouldn't keep asking questions about Christmas songs since it's too early, but we're already getting bombarded by them...I know I am.

My apologies to anyone who's a fan, but I just heard Mariah Carey's version of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" while I ran some lunch-time errands and I wanted to start throwing things. It's horrible!

How about you? Are there any holiday songs that get you OUT of the holiday spirit?

Soul Girl - I could live in B&B Works...I love that place!

Rckets - agreed. There is an "adult" store in the area that does a radio ad with a chick singing that song - she says something about putting lingerie under the tree. Bad chills.

You're so right about the Mariah Carey one. Kills me.

For my answer though I'm with Rckts. Santa Baby is simply egregious. There is one version that I hear about 50 times a year and I'm not sure who does it but it has kind of a Betty Boop vocal sound that just makes me want to cut into my brain and find the center that receives and translates sound and violently chop it out.

I can't stand Mariah Carey so that's perfectly understandable. I can do without ever having to hear Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas? for the rest of eternity and be absolutely ecstatic. Even the Duran Duran contribution is of little consolation, that song bites.

Sookie - That makes you very fortunate. I go out of my way to avoid stations that play stuff like that, yet I still end up hearing it every year.

Any version of Santa Baby is also beyond annoying. The idea of thinking about the fat guy with the red suit in a sexual context makes me want to yak.

Bad chills, indeed! :)

I don't think Christmas songs are annoying but sometimes the people that sing them make them annoying because they sound all whiny.

I agree with you on the Mariah Carey song.

I am not a Mariah fan either but listen to the Christmas song she sings called "Miss You Most At Christmastime."

So sad.

The Huntingtons made a Christmas song called "It's Always Christmas At My House". The band annoys me as a rule, but this song is actually pretty funny. If you don't know, The Huntingtons were a Ramones knock-off band, though they saw themselves as a quasi-tribute band.

The Chipmunk Christmas song. (shudders) My friends sometimes sing it just to annoy me. Although I have to agree with you, any Mariah Carey Christmas song is torture. You can't mess with Christmas carols like that!! You sing them like they are supposed to be sung, without all the stupid oOOooooOOooo business. (That might make more sense If I were saying this out loud)

Pretty much any version of "Sleigh Ride" other than the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops version gets me into the Christmas spirit better than anything else; but I can't stand most of those other versions.
