Appx. 8", adult. Just did a complete tank cleaning.
It's not eating like it should (Pellets). Stools are normal size and consistancy, color. Kept in 60 gal.
aquarium with submers. filter. Using a full spectrum light over basking area. Could it be an infection or am I keeping the water too cool? It's still active and quick, not lethargic. Please help!

This may be a simple case of a RES that is overweight. A proper diet must be introduced to correct and prevent any additional problems such as pyramiding. If there is swelling in the rear of a female, it is possible there is egg retention. . If there are other symptoms, such as color or breathing changes, you may suspect the presence of an infection.

Red pink or soft pink? Red pink, like infected injuries show, is very possibly a blood infection- serious business.

Soft pink can be irritated skin, heat or cold, etc. Double check basic cares at a good site like http://www.redearslider.com

beacuse probably in the past its water was dirty and it infected it. i suggest cleaning its skin softly with a cotton swab or take it to a local pet store or vet.i would suggest to wash hand cleanly after handling it it may have salmonella
