it's filthy but i don't know how to get the dirt from under & around the keys

You can either vacuum it or use a can of compressed air to blow the dirt out.

To get the dust and other debris from the areas between the keys, take a vacuum cleaners hose attachment and run it over the keyboard for a few minutes. Pull any hairs or other fibers that are left half-out of the keyboard housing by hand, and repeat. then use a can of air to blow any residual dust loose, and re-vacuum. After that, take a paper towel moistened (NOT soaked) with alcohol, and wipe the keys. Repeat as necessary.

I dust it with a 2 inch paintbrush while it is off
then dampen the brush a little --- then brush again ---then wipe any dirt with a cloth
