Assuming this is a typical "hair" clog, you might consider going the "natural" route by doing the following:

1) Close the drain (i.e., use the tub's "stopper").
2) Fill the tub about 1/4 of the way with hot water.
3) Pour a cup of lemon juice AND a cup of white vinegar into the tub.
4) Stir up the water until it's reasonably mixed; five or so "orbits" around the tub should suffice (WARNING: Don't scald yourself with the hot water!)
5) Open the tub's stopper a TINY bit, so that you can *just* barely hear or see it draining.

The idea is to let these natural solvents work their way SLOWLY into the clogged area, and "eat" through whatever gunk is there. Generally speaking, the "average" clog will be cleared by the next day. Of course, if it's so badly clogged that *nothing* will go through, then this might still work, but may take forever for the juice and vinegar to "settle" down to the clog! And, needless to say, this method won't help at all, if it isn't an organically-based clog, such as if your kid's bath toy got jammed in the pipe!

Even if this method doesn't work with the clog, I guarantee that it will dissolve any dirt and junk on the floor and sides of the tub (a little scrubbing on the heavier dirt may still be needed, but you'll be amazed at how easily it wipes clean!), and it will be cleaner spelling, as well! Fringe benefits all around! ;)

Good luck!

It sounds to me like there is a few woman on your domicile that's inflicting your undertaking or you permit it go too long. or you have some sons with pony tails. What i'm getting at is HAIR. it incredibly is the main important undertaking with bathing room drains (Sinks and tubs). in case you may, get rid of the small drain in the tub (in keeping with probability a small screw) carry it tight to maintain it from dropping down and get a skinny twine with a small hook on the top and attempt eliminating the hair that's caught in the drain. you will see that the hair is long and lined with cleansing soap scum construction up. to circumvent this you may conceal the drain with a copper scrubbie used for pots and pans or see if the Orange field sells something to conceal the drain and seize the hair. some sing drains have a plunger that's used to open and close the sink drain. that's somewhat coplicated as below the sink there's a spirng that holds the rod for the drain that ought to be bumped off. frequently the techs at domicile depot or Lowes will teach how its completed. as quickly because it s bumped off the drain could properly be lifted uot and the hair and junk bumped off. warm water and drano only get rid of most of the cleansing soap scum and not the hair . make a journey to the large packing containers and communicate over with the persons in the plumbing section and have them teach you tactics the drains artwork and how they arrive aside for cleansing. Prevention is the variety one helper. It looks complicated yet after looking and spot how its completed that's elementary

Get a wire hanger. And snake it down the drain Kind of turning it as you go along. Maybe you will break up any hair wads in the drain or snag it on the hanger and pull it out.

It's probably a soap/hair clog... I once a month take a gallon of bleach and pour a few cups down each drain... It keep the drain flowing freely and is less caustic/dangerous than using DRANO.... We were told also that diet coke will work in a pinch as well....

Plunge it, most bath tubs have an overflow and you can't really get a good suction. You can also fill the drain with baking soda and then flush it with vinegar and cap it with the plug. The pressure may unclog it.

Use a snake! You can buy or rent them at hardware stores.

You don't have to use the giant ones that professionals use. A small one that goes on the tip of your drill sounds right for you. (Or there are similar ones that are hand-cranked, if you don't have a drill. But your arms will get a bit tired.)

pour a gallon of bleach directly into it. about thirty minutes later, your drain will be cleaned out. It wont eat hair, but it will eat enough crap around it, that you can plunge it up, yuck. make sure and run cold water for a couple of minutes after the drain is cleared.

If its just hair in the drain an its not too far down, try using a metal coat hanger, or something similar.

I use a snake. Works very good and is safe for pets and children. I got mine at the hardware store (more choices than at those builder supply houses).
