Why do you choose the random number 3? Why not ask for 5 or 50? Would that not get you closer to happiness?
The only answer one need for the "essentials" of happiness is rational self-fulfillment--and I did say rational. This means do no harm to others, but otherwise do what ever you want to suit your pursuit of happiness.

I think it is interesting to note that no one here mentioned attitude. I have met people people who have almost nothing and their life sucks by most people standards, but they are still happy. I have also met people who have everything you could ever want, and are still unhappy. So I think attitude is really what counts.

If I have to pick 3 things they would be:

1. Attitude
2. Love
3. Faith in God
