Unlike middle school and elementary school, high school graduation is dependent on the number of credits you receive for each class. When a class is incomplete or if you receive an "F," you don't get credit for the class. So it isn't really a matter of failing an entire year, it is a matter of not receiving the number of credits you need to graduate.
If I were you, I would make an appointment with your grade level counselor at the school and go in to see where you stand. He or she can give you an idea of where you stand and what you need to do to get to where you want to go.
I also, think you might have your parents look into the Hospital/Homebound designation. This allows a teacher to come to your home 4 hours a week to assist you with your studies. Since you have a doctor's note, you are eligible for this program. Ask your parent to talk with the school counselor about this. You are eligible and having a teacher coming in to help you will be helpful.

The probelm is that they can't let you graduate if you haven't completed the work, even if you were sick. It is better to graduate a year late, but know the material well, than to just barely manage to graduate earlier. Try not to worry too much about it, and just move forward. Whether you graduate in June 08 or later is not the point - the point is that you complete the work and have the diploma that will allow you to pursue other things. Best of luck.

It sounds like you'll be graduating late, you may have to take the first semester next year to graduate (it'll be at the end of the first semester -in December ?- instead of June. Ask her to clarify, ,and ask her if there is any way you can graduate on time, (do makeup work), or something. My first year of college (I took 11 and 12 together to graduate early, so I could get a full scholarship I was being offered), I ran myself down, going to school full time and working part time and ended up with pneumonia, missed a month of classes, and had to take all incompletes. I had to take 2 full class loads (all my incompletes, plus my new full course load) my 2nd year to keep my scholarship. I graduated on time. try night classes or summer school, extra credit, anything to try to graduate on time. Hope this helps.

What you need to do is your schoolwork. Every day you need to do some of it. If you're sick and have headaches, don't try to spend hours and hours doing something. Sit down and work for 30 minutes, then take a walk, exercise, relax, do something. Then come back for 30 more minutes. But don't let ANY day go by without doing some schoolwork. You need to spend at least 4 hours every day, including Saturday doing schoolwork. Taking it in small pieces makes it easier to deal with, and is less likely to trigger your headaches. However, don't let your illness excuse yourself from getting an education. We ALL have burdens in life. The successful people don't let burdens or setbacks stop them, but learn to manage the burden, to work around it or with it. You and your parents need to go talk to your counselor or dean at the high school and find out where you stand. AND you need to work at schoolwork every day--NO EXCUSES.

graduating in june 08 would mean you are graduating during the 2007-2008 school year, as the academic year goes from august of one year to june of the next. so you were suppsed to graduate this year, adn now are on track to graduate next year.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Possibly summer school can help you catch up if you want to be more on track with your classmates.
Remember you are trying to become educated not schooled. Many people go to school everyday and don't become educated. If you are keeping up with your studies that is what matters most. Don't give up and go to college.
Good Luck.

From the grammar you used I would hope they keep you back a little while longer. Can't even pass the GED with that. You didn't fail high school, you are just being held back. Like repeating a grade. It's no big deal and happens very often.

How does that work? It sounds complicated. If you are sick then why worry? That is the reason you are behind. When you get finished you get finished. Stop making yourself sicker by worrying.
