I have to shoot bridal portraits for a bride next week. She doesn't want them in my studio nor is she willing to shoot outdoors (where we usually go, Mercer Arboretum). I'm okay with her not wanting in the studio but that usually means outdoors; which she has refused. HELP!
I need ideas in the Houston area where I can shoot bridal portraits indoors. I just don't want to have to jump through a bunch of hoops and/or cut through miles of red tape to get permission to enter some place and photography. Any ideas?
She lives in West Houston, my studio is in East Houston and she is being married in Galveston. I'm thinking anywhere in between will make us happy if we can just find a beautiful, elegant INDOOR location. HELP!

CK, I considered Galveston. Her family is staying at the Tremont and the reception is at Aston Villa so those are certainly under consideration. I would like to avoid driving to Galveston is I can but if necessary, off we'll go.
William, I considered the Rose Gardens as well, but I'm thinking she doesn't want to be outdoors AT ALL. Which is a shame because those outdoor shots are beautiful. My sister was married in the gardens and the pics are beautiful.

What about some of the old hotels or mansions in Galveston? They're beautiful and unique. Most of them are open to the public, so you might not have a bunch of red tape to deal with. Examples I can think of would be the Tremont Hotel, Hotel Galvez, Bishop's Palace, or Ashton Villa. Just a thought. Good luck, bridezillas suck!

Depending on what her style is, I got a GORGEOUS picture done on the stairs inside The Magnolia hotel. It's a pretty modern backdrop, but very nice. They also have a fireplace and some sitting areas that would work great- but, again, on the modern side. Based on my experience there, I *think* they would be very open to your situation.

If she wants something more traditional, you could inquire at the Rice Hotel as well. It's no longer a hotel (condos) but they have a gorgeous ballroom. I couldn't find a link but this will at least get you started

Another gorgeous hotel is Hotel Icon. Very lush and would be a fabulous backdrop (but she has to like red)

Also, what about Bayou Bend, the Ima Hogg estate? I bet they'll say no, but it's worth a look.
None of the museums let you take pics... Bummer b/c the MFAH has a wonderful marble lobby. Anyway, don't bother trying the museums.
Perhaps you can check www.har.com and see if there are any big homes on the market, call the Realtor and ask of you can use their foyer or great room?

As a reasonably recent groom, your bride needs to loosen up and be a bit more open to suggestions.

You may want to check on other local hotels too. I would call and check, if you tell them you will put the pics in your portfolio they may let you do it for nothing! PLus there is the historic district in Galveston, and you may want to check with local museums too.
