That's what politics is about. The alternative is armed struggle.
We're adult human beings who don't always agree and often disagree very much. In a Democratic society free and open debate is a way of settling those differences in a way nobody gets hurt. Try to appreciate the clash of ideas even if it sometimes turns a little negative or even if it turns very negative.
Also politics is about huge important issues, lives sometimes. The worst that can happen is not that someones feelings get hurt. Attacking the opposition can be very useful and necessary when they oppose those things that will make peoples life better or refuse to give up policies that kill.
This is not a defense of negative politics or personal attacks but you can attack your opponents on ideological and policy grounds. That's totally acceptable

Well i guess to some people the opposition is the one that causes the real problems in a country so that's why they attack them. Wouldn't everything be wonderful if people just sat down and got into the problems which really need attention?? the world would be so much more a better place to live in.....but that's life when misunderstanding and differences in opinions clash!

I know i agree and i am guilty of committing some "offenses" against the opposition. And i am attempting to tone down some of my more "obtrusive" rhetoric i really am. I am now attempting to take a more centrist stance with the issues. Many times ive found on yahoo that its become a forum for petty little political witch hunts. Ive had both questions and answers deleted because they offended "some". Some didnt like the tone or the point, so "some" had them deleted. Well i dont play the game like "SOME" and i refuse to stoop to the level of "SOME" on yahoo! If you dont like the question skip it if you dont like the answer thumb it down but dont hide behind yahoos skirts and do it!!!! That accomplishes nothing! But im sure "SOME" think they are acomplishing everything!

Yes they do. Its always easier to point out the flaws of others in competition rather than address the issue. It gets the heat off of the attacker and it draws attention away from the fact that none of them have a valid solution of how to resolve the issues that our country is faced with.

Not trying to play devil's advocate, but sometimes the opposition is the real problem in this country.

As long as you have someone else to blame you have someway to hide the true issues. As with anything you have to wade through a ton of BS to find an ounce of truth.

Good question. I think they believe it easier to attack the opposition than answer tough questions that might implicate or reveal who they really are.

Attacking the opposition is so much easier, since all you have to do is take a contrary opinion. The liberals have been doing it to the Bush administration since he took office.

No, but our leaders do. They set a wonderful example for everyone to follow and most step in line to march to their beat.
