Even though I was a kid I loved the summer show "Gold Diggers" and never missed Smothers Brothers. Ed Sullivan with the Beatles and Topo Gigo. Not a true variety show but how about Laugh-in?

I miss the Carol Burnett show most of all the old shows. Going back a lot more years, the Ed Sullivan show and The Sid Caesar Show were two of the best.

Oh yes. I was just telling my kids about the Ed Sullivan show (Saturday nights)and Lawrence Welk (Sunday Nights).

There was also a Movie of the Week that you looked forward to all week.

Alfred Hitchcock and Perry Mason, those were good too.

Seems like today's show are all about competition.

yes, very much! I loved Milton Berle, and Steve Allen, they always made me laugh, then came Dean Martin, Oh I loved to hear him sing and he was such a good comedian. What made some of them so funny was that they were not edited for boo boos, and those were always the funniest parts, like Carol Burnett, her shows even now when seen always make me laugh especially when they cracked each other up.

mY parents used to watch Dean Martin's show, Red Skelton, Carol Burnet, Ed Sullivan. Good music, comedy and entertainment. Today's reality shows are so tiring. I hope this reality show phase ends soon!

Very much so. I thought they were great, all different kinds of entertainment. I loved the Smothers Brothers, Laugh In, Flip,Dean Martin to name a few. It was just fun, you could laugh and not have to think for just that little time. It was a great release.
