We can say that we don't have nuclear arms when we do. As does Israel.

But why can't a sovereign nation decide what it wants to do?

You people want closed borders, as I do, but where we differ is that you also want to be able to dictate to other countries what they can and cannot do.

The reason that Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons concerns us is, that Iran has stated objectives contrary to our national interests and safety. I imagine that you would approve of acting against Iran once they have already attacked, but when you can see the danger, it's better to prevent it.
If their activities affected only Iranians, I would probably agree that we are not called upon to intervene. It might do more harm than good. But when we see an international threat gathering, it is only prudent to try to head it off.
It's always tricky to decide what precise course of action to take. It's not possible to predict the outcome 100%.

closed borders in UK is a little like locking the door after the horse has bolted

however the problem of nukes and iran isn't so hopeless

sovereign nation they may be BUT they are led by an egotistical nutter who is eager to make a name for himself in the middle east and to show how tough he is to the West

he has said he wishes to wipe Israel off the map and he may well be crazy enough to do it

if we can prevent this becoming a possibility then i think it is perfectly acceptable to try to delay the delay in their production of nuclear weapons

first the IAEA decides what countries can do, regarding nuclear power not the US... not that it will stop any country from acquiring nuclear power/weapons if it really wants it

secondly... nuclear arms in the hands of an unstable regime is not a good thing...

When someone threatens they want to wipe Israel off the map as Achmadenijad(sp?) , you tend to take them seriously. When he has lied to the faces of Americans (no gays in Iran), you tend not to believe him when he says he has no plans for nuclear weapons.

Because of the USA's imperialist agenda. Theyre against anyone in the world having as much power as they do, and will use lies and deceipt to turn global opinion against any nation who comes close.
