IDK.. depends how close you are with them and if they're a man or woman.
If you feel obligated to get them something.. get them a starbucks gift card.. everyone in NY will make use of it.
or a bottle of wine or champagne is a nice offer as well.

Well this year a gift card from Target or Walmart would be excellent.. or from there favorite stores.. In todays times when shopping for co-workers You cant go wrong with Sweets wrapped up or Gift cards.. Thats a Bangger!!! Try that

Man or woman? What does he or she likes best? If you want a sure bet, give him/her a gift card, you'll never mess up. He's a coworker, and your boss, so you've some degree of friendship. So, you can suprise him/her giving your boss a gift basket with something you like. If he's a man, you can engrave some "best wishes" on a desktop item, like an envelope-opener... men are suckers for shiny desktop items.

I usually give my boss a gift card to a restaurant and my co-wokers it varies on how much I like them.Usually a card and candy or nuts.

Cards are good in general. Do you know their interests or anything? If you do, it may make the gift more personal - and of course a more lasting impression!
However to keep it simple and more "professional", cards or even small xmas treats (chocolates?) are good. They're cheap and look nice.

Gift certificates, calendars, candles, things to make their office area easier or more attractive for them, an organizer..., have fun - maybe a gift certificate for a massage and a candle together... Have fun shopping!
