Not really. How will they know what your point is or was if you don't let them know it? Talking and keeping the communications lines open is the only true way of making certain a relationship keeps on working. The silent treatment is a way of making absolutely certain it breaks down. Trust me -- we having lasted this long not to have figured some things out (besides, I've never been good at silence anyways -- loud sobbing yes, silence no....)

Call it juvenile but that is the only way I operate. I frequently give people the "silent treatment" because they tend to really give an ear to me once I stop talking. Sometimes people take for granted that you are always going to talk people to death to convence them of your thoughts. I'm patient and can hold out until people are sincere about listening to me. My ideas are often carried out because I have learned the art of silence being golden.

No, most people are so caught up in their own life, they don't even know you are giving them to silent treatment, I think it's kinda stupid anyway, if you have a problem with someone, you should talk it out...how else is it gonna get solved.

i think it can be a little bit immature giving someone the silent treatment. it's definitely best to respectfully and calmly put your point across through conversation. i know it can get difficult if the other person starts getting aggressive about their view on something!
...especially siblings. -.-

You know, i think the silent treatment is undeniably the most stupid thing any person can do to attempt getting their point across.
Simply get your point across with WORDS.
Jeeze, i thought only women were the ones who did this nonsense!
(No offense ladies)

Loud sounds disturb me. Silence is golden. Besides why waste more words on a point someone hears but won't listen to.

no, absolutely not. because not communicating means they know something is wrong but have no idea what to do about it. communicating is better.
read marshall rosenberg's nonviolent communication. try something like:
when you ____ i felt _____ because ___
when you didn't do the dishes last night, i felt angry, because i have a need for order.
when you didn't come home last night, i felt worried, because I didn't know where you were or if you were ok.
then here's the key....LISTEN to the other person.
withholding the relationship is extortion and it won't help your relationship in the long run.
learn better communication skills. take a class in relationship communication or something. you don't need your partner to cooperate in order to improve your skills and your relationship.

Nope! They get bored from your lack of communication and will forget you all together. So, if you are protesting someone you care about, don't be surprised if they say "See ya!" .It can be crazy-annoying for a day, but all they are going to do to you is say, "TALK TO ME, TALK TO ME!!! GAHHH!!!! YOU'RE DRIVING ME NUTS!!!" And when they get sick of begging you to talk to them, most people say, "Ah, to heck with it." And then YOU are forgotten and look kind of like a jack-***. Tell people what's on your mind. So much easier. I promise you this. And, you get to call someone out. That's always fun.
