I'm going to say that it's a multitude of issues. There's a definate lack of communication going on, since if they were communicating their issues & doing so properly there would be no reason to cheat. I'd also say that some people cheat because they don't want to be in the relationship anymore, yet they stay because they feel like they "have to" for varying reasons (like for kids, b/c they've been together for so long, ect). There is also a boredom factor. The relationship lost it's spark & instead of trying to rekindle that spark, they look for it elsewhere. A lot of people end up cheating b/c the relationship was never based around the right things in the first place. There are a lot of couples who got together b/c they mistook puppy love & lust for the real thing, only to find out later that they just weren't compatible.
Of course, some people cheat b/c they are scoundrels, but if the other person spent the time to get to know the person they'd have picked up on it beforehand.

There are plenty of reasons which differ from couple to couple. There is no one definitive reason behind it. Even if there is one thing that pushes them over the edge, it wasn't just one catalyst that started it off. Also, do you consider a one-night-stand cheating? Because some wouldn't term it cheating unless it was another relationship going on.

Because everyone has their breaking point, and there are times in life where we are weak and the "right" opportunity presents itself. Simple "one night stand" cheating is capable by anyone and doesn't reflect on whether or not they love their spouse. It simply means they were weak and made a mistake. It doesn't excuse it, but that is all it is. The true injustice in relationships are affairs. Where emotions get involved and it does reflect upon your true feelings for your spouse.

This question keeps repeating.
There are two reasons for cheating.
1. The cheater does not respect their partner.
2. The cheater is running away from marital issues.
Those two reasons cover every cheater.
Take care,

Every person has things that they believe to be very important to them and things that turn them on and make them happy. Unfortunately, many people ignore some of these things in favor of finding someone who fulfills one of these things. All is well to start, and then they start to realize that they love the one thing they are getting but they really miss the other things they don't get, so they start looking for the other things and BAM it happens. Other people are just selfish bas***** and don't care.

Because they are lacking something in their current relationship. Wives as well as husbands should be able to pick up on how the other is feeling....and if they cant or are not willing to then all hell breaks loose....its inevitable...

IDK about the emotional reasons but we watched a movie in my biology class last week that said certain genes might determine if you were more likely to cheat on someone or your chances of becoming a serial killer.
