Depends on what point of history you're talking about.

The Ottomans, as an empire, were around before the British. They had an empire when England was still unimportant.

The British Empire, in the long run, ended up far more powerful and imfluential. The British actually kept the Ottomans going as long as they did.
The British controlled more land, at the height of their power, than the Ottomans did. They had more complete control (since they governed far more fairly). They had more influence on the modern world.

Wow,
Statement or question?

The British Empire was greater, by far.
The British influence in trade, culture, wealth generation, education, art, science, and the effect upon other cultures was by far more enduring and lasting.

The Ottoman Empire was limited to the Balkans, Turkey, Southwest Asia, Arabia, Egypt and its influence was localized in those areas. At points where these cultures/empires met the British Empires influence dominated that of the Ottoman.

If the British Empire controlled more square miles of territory, does that mean they were more powerful? If the Ottoman Empire remained in power longer, does that mean they had more influence?

There is simply no correct answer to this sort of question. The best you can do is to study both, and compare them in as many ways as you can.

As to your specific complaints about the British Empire, they certainly do not detract from its power or influence. In fact, if you go around the world, "raping and pilliging other lands" as you put it, isn't that just one more expression of power?

I'd say the British Empire. On the whole they had more influence on their times, and our times, than the Ottoman Empire.
