Its about 50 degrees where its stored. Should I be worried that it backfired about 4 or 5 times while choked, and then warmed up fine once I backed the choke down and let it run? Its a 2000 Suzuki SV 650 S (v twin). Its never had any problems before, but I"ve also never let it sit for 7 days before between startings. Thanks for any help!!! Cheers.

A well tuned motorcycle will probably backfire now and then. It's normal. Race cars backfire all the time. I woudn't worry about it. If you are really concerned, maybe you should ask a mechanic. Not a bunch of kids on Yahoo!

Use a little less choke.
Where it ran fine when you backed it off is a good place to start. When it gets colder, you will need more.

It's cold. Let it warm up for a while.
