No one would clean it and everyone would leave their old lunches and leftovers in there. I put a note on it with a date (usually once a month or so) that I was going to throw anything out that was still sitting in it without a name and a date on it, giving them a week's notice. I then posted a sharpy on the fridge hanging from the handle so there was no excuse for not labeling their stuff. Then I threw everything out on that day. There were a lot of nice tupperware and lunch boxes that ended up in the trash (if I knew something was recent, I left it tho).
There were lots of pissed off people digging their dishes out of the trash bin but it got everyone labeling after that. I didn't have much problem after that and the throw out days continued and the smell abated.

We don't have a kitchen, but our fridges are terrible. I work in a printing/packaging plant, and noone is really responsible for them, so the fridges get disgusting. I try to clean them out when I have time, but my job demands me to be on the floor almost 100% of the time.

We use to have a secretary who worked here for 20 years...she would clean it. But since she left, it got really gross in there. A few of us went in and cleaned out the frige last week. We put up signs warning people. Hardly anyone took their s*** out, so we we pitching everything...tupperware and all. Anyway, we don't have a schedule in place, so I'm sure it will be gross again in a few months.

Our fridge is very old and it is dirty, but I also work with a couple of guys who could really care less. We do clean it from time to time. but not very often, i work in a busy doctors office. But it should be everyones responsibility not just one persons.

It's immaculate..........I'm the "mean old guy" that pitches EVERYTHING not taken home on Friday at close of business.....so it's empty when the cleaning crew comes in on Saturday......there is a sign posted on the fridge "THE ENTIRE CONTENTS OF THIS REFRIGERATOR WILL BE DISPOSED OF ON FRIDAY BY 5:00 PM. IF YOU HAVE FOOD STORAGE CONTAINERS IN HERE, PLEASE TEND TO THEM PRIOR TO FRIDAY. "
I'm not putting my lunch in a refrigerator that looks like it's for stool samples in a hospital laboratory......

After threatening everyone that we will throw out anything and everything unmarked its spotless....
before that I would have worn an anti-biological war fare zip up suite with mask and oxygen tank before I even slightly opened it.

We have a cleaning crew, and they clean it out every Friday. If anything is left in there, it's thrown out.
