You can download a disk or data recovery tool from almost anywhere. Formatting just deletes you partition table unless you use the /u option. That data is still there and should be recoverable. The problem is fragmentation, you may have to go through each file to identify it and some files may not be easily recovered due to fragmentation
Good luck with you recovery

Go to http://download.com and search for "unformat". There are programs (some free) which may be able to recover the data from the formatted drive. If you only did a "quick format", everything is still there. You just deleted the directory structure that points to the files. If you did a full format, the program may not be able to recover anything
Good luck

it is possible to recover the data if a "low-level format", more correclty called a reinitialization of the drive, was not performed. the format command performs a normal or "high-level" format, which does not actually remove the data from the blocks on the disk.
by contrast, reinitialization actually writes a zero to every block on the disk, effectively overwriting any data stored on the disk, thereby making it unrecoverable. it is highly unlikely that you did this.
agree with the guy who said go look for unformat.
here's the search string from google:

I'm in agreeance with the guy who answered before. There are companies that will attempt to recover your hard drive. However, this will run into boku bucks, and there's no telling how much you'll get back out of it.

Srry, man. Once you format, that stuff is gone. Unless you get a really good recovery company, but not much will come out.

Sorry, formatting removes all data from the drive. So you have lost everything that was on that drive.
