Scion is a division of Toyota.
The original xA and xB were built on the original Toyota Echo platform.
The tC, new xB use the Toyota Camry Engine. The new xD uses the same platform that will be used by the new Toyota Corolla/Matrix.

Toyota. i saw one racing a Honda Accord tonite. The Accord couldn't over take the Scion. I was impressed. I might get one.

The tC shares nothing with the Celica. Its got the engine and transmission from a 4 cylinder Camry put into the Toyota Avensis platform.
