I used to live for other's approval. I would let what someone thought or felt choose my actions for me. Since I"ve decided to stop worrying about what others think, just do what I need to do any way I choose life has gotten better. I used to walk into a room and kinda hunch my shoulders and creep behind my wife because her family didn't care for me much. Now I lead my wife into a room, go where I want in the room, and help myself to the snacks and bar. The results have been mindblowing. All along, it's not that they didn't like me or think negatively, I just percieved it that way so they thought I didn't like them the way I acted around them. I created my own misery by worrying about how others thought of me. Don't do it, be yourself and let people think what they think. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and God bless.

Been there! I was born at the beginning of the Great Depression in '29, when adults were scared out of their wits--and for good reasons! I was taught VERY EARLY to stay out of the way; keep my peace and cause no one trouble!! Since my Dad had found a job at night, he had to sleep in the daytime. Normal toddler expressions of crying etc., resulted in my being locked in the bathroom and not able to come out until I was quiet AND put a smile on when I was older! That conditioning was very effective--until I nearly off-ed myself in the '60's. Went through an "awakening"; rebirth, whatever, and changed my life! You have a Great Message! And Yahoo Answers is a great way for all of us to hear each other!!! All of above to you and Have a Great New Year!!

you are absolutely right! Hold your head up high, stand up for your beliefs, exhume confidence in yourself, and remember, at the end of the day, it what you do and how you live your life that matters most.
You will be judged by a higher power, the others opinions are not relevant
and merry christmas to you too :)

AMEN! I believe that people respond to your actions and demeanor more than your "attractiveness." After all, the definition of attractive differs for everyone. But if a person is confident (not cocky), and affable, everyone will find that person attractive. Do not read "sexually" into my use of the word attractive.

NO!
Like you, I needed other people's opinion. I felt bad if they didn't like me.
Than, in one moment, I just said "F*ck them!"
Who cares if they like me or not! I like myself, and I make my own decisions!
If they can handle that, than, too bad.
