Haren 15-9 and 3.07 in 2007 for the A's is an excellent pitcher that would be a #1 or #2 starter on most teams. He would fit in nicely with the Yankees and the fans would love him. The only downside is that he is somewhat of an injury risk but not enough of a concern to keep the Yankees from going after him.

Dan Haren will be a top 3 righty in the league for about the next 10 years. He's a stand-up guy. And Cardinals fans will always be bitter about trading him away.

Mid-90's fastball with movement, excellent split finger, and when he commands his curveball he is one of the best out there. This guy is an excellent pitcher in my opinion, #1 caliber starter coming into the prime of his career. He was excellent control, he is a big guy around 6'5" so I think the durability will be there. He was the best pitcher in the game for the first half of the season last year but kind of tired out later in the year. Some of that might have had to do with the A's just being a terrible team especially on offense. In my opinion he is one of the top 10 pitchers in baseball. This guys pitches have movement and if you asked the hitters around the league they would tell you this and tell you he is hard to hit.

Well I guess from a comparison standpoint that Santana vs. Haren is like filet mignon vs. a porterhouse, top of the line vs. slightly above average. I like his numbers and his youth. It's his durability that I question. That and as always, can he handle the pressures of the Big Apple. And for him that would be huge --- West Coast mentality vs. East Coast. Two different planets.

What concerns me the most is that he gives up home runs, and visiting teams in NY are not stupid. When they can stack their lineups to clear that short porch in right field they often do.

All you need to know is that he would be the Ace of that staff if he can keep from getting the NY jitters. He had a breakout season last year and he'll keep getting better.

The Mets will probably get him. They have a bigger need and will give more out.
