Oh yes, and it's another "Christmas disaster" story. A close buddy had just broken up with his girlfriend, so I went to his place for a Christmas eve visit to cheer him up. He was having flashbacks of his time in combat in Korea (he's 20 years older than I), and getting extremely drunk. Maybe now I'm glad I stayed and talked him down, but that night was AWFUL. He got out one of his pistols and was playing with it, and then all of a sudden - BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! He fired three rounds from that .45 through his floor! Frozen in shock and terror, I watched him wave the weapon around, and at times it was pointed at me. I was also terrified he might have hit a gas pipe or electrical line beneath the hosue - that we might both go up in flames.
Eventually he put the gun down, and I quickly hid it when he staggered to the bathroom, crying.
I hung around quite a while after that, getting him to talk, worrying about everything, and at last helped him collapse on a couch, covered him up, and got out of there.
There have been a few other occasions, but this one was the worst!

Yes, one winter my stubborn husband insisted on driving home is a very bad winter storm. (We could have stayed over night at my parents' house, but he wanted to get home). It was night, snow/ice freezing on the windshield wipers, couldn't see your hand in front of your face. . .2 lane highway. He had to keep pulling over on the side of the road to get out and knock the snow/ice off the wiper blades - how he even saw to pull over, I don't know. A trip that should have taken 1 hour took 3 or 4 hours. I huddled in the back with our (then) infant son and (then) preschool-age daughter and prayed the whole way that we'd get home in one piece. Well, I must have done something right because we made it. I was never so glad to be home in all my life!

I remember proving that the cartoons where some character is seen digging fingernails into solid rock to keep from falling over a cliff can be done. The worrying came shortly after.
I've had similar things occur driving. There is no time to worry in that few seconds, if that long. Just react, then stop and have your collapse.

A few years ago, I was with this guy and we were sitting in his car near my house. Some guy approached the car and knocked on the window. The guy I was with put the window down a crack and asked the guy what he wanted. He asked us for our wallets and had his hand wrapped with a rag and he was holding something underneath. We started the car to take off, but the guy smashed the window before we were able to take off and glass flew in our faces. I got a small cut on my forehead- blood was dripping down my face. We took off and the guy got into a car behind us and started chasing us. We hit a dead end and did a 180 turn (by some miracle) and were able to lose them. That was a very scary experience for me that I will never forget. God was looking out for us that night.

Yeah. I had a heart attack on an airplane over the Atlantic a few years ago.
Then later at the hospital, they gave me morphine and the fear just magically went away!

Yes, many times but you'll have to wait for the book.
The first 20 years of my life other people tried to destroy me...the second 20 years of my life I tried to destroy myself....now, I'm writing a book about the experience.
Peace.

I almost drowned when I was little. Then a few years ago I was cliff jumping and caught the edge of the rock, hit my head and fell unconscious into a waterfall. My friends saved me but I had to be airlifted out b/c it was a looong hike in and I had a head injury.
