And since we now know Iran has no weapons program, what exactly IS the "Iran nuclear crisis"?

Sounds like something manufactured in Washington to me.

Good question, Joe H. What DID Iran ever do to us?

not according to Bush and of course , we all know that he is the decider for the world.

Note to others - Ajad never said he wanted to wipe Israel off the face of the earth....

It turns out that Ahmadinejad never said what is being routinely attributed to him. Juan Cole, a professor of Middle Eastern studies at University of Michigan who reads Persian, explains that he actually stated (quoting the late Ayatollah Khomeini): "The Imam said that this regime occupying Jerusalem (een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods) must [vanish from] from the page of time (bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad)."

They certainly do have that right, but did you know that if a country has the capability to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes they are as close as they can be to developing nuclear weapons? All you need to do is enrich the uranium a little while longer. Iran also has very impressive ICBMs. I like math, I'm good at putting two and two together.

Also, we don't "know that Iran has no weapons program". What we do know is that UN and US intelligence agree that they stopped a program in 2003. Their is also no guarantee that estimate is 100% right, but I like the sound of it. Just because you like the sound of it too doesn't make it true. Still, it also means that in 2003 they WERE pursuing just such a program, and I am wondering why they were, and why they stopped. Doesn't it bother you that we have proof that Iran WAS developing a nuclear weapons program? ~2003, they also claimed they had no weapons program, and that they were developing nuclear power for peaceful purposes, which is exactly what they are saying now.

And you know they have no weapons program how? Are you really that naive to think that a dictator who publicly announces that he wants the "Israeli regime to vanish from the page of time" is being honest? I wonder how he could make that happen? You do realize that Iran is run by the terrorist organization Hezbollah right? These people are not peaceful. I'll take the word of the Japanese who were helping them develop nuclear power plants until they found they were looking to enrich the uranium. Enriched uranium in these guys hands would be a major threat to the world as they are aggressors, not defenders. Iran has one of the largest oil reserves AND natural gas reserves in the world and with their small cities ans villages set so far apart nuclear power plants would be inefficient.

Now, I know you will ignore all this, and you will put your trust in what a dictator says over what our countries intelligence agencies learn, so I have given you a link here... one that even tries to make it all look good for Iran...

In the article the author nit picks over exact words that were said and takes no consideration into the actual meaning of the words. True, he does not say the words "wiped off the map"... but what does having a group people "vanish from the page of time mean"? Please... does he think people are stupid here?

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad pontificates rather than give a direct answer when questioned about the statement in an article in the Washington Post. He does not directly deny his desire for those events to happen.

Are you really serious when you say that Israel should be wiped off the face of the Earth?

We need to look at the scene in the Middle East — 60 years of war, 60 years of displacement, 60 years of conflict, not even a day of peace. Look at the war in Lebanon, the war in Gaza — what are the reasons for these conditions? We need to address and resolve the root problem.

Your suggestion is to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth?

Our suggestion is very clear:... Let the Palestinian people decide their fate in a free and fair referendum, and the result, whatever it is, should be accepted.... The people with no roots there are now ruling the land.

You've been quoted as saying that Israel should be wiped off the face of the Earth. Is that your belief?

What I have said has made my position clear. If we look at a map of the Middle East from 70 years ago...

So, the answer is yes, you do believe that it should be wiped off the face of the Earth?

Are you asking me yes or no? Is this a test? Do you respect the right to self-determination for the Palestinian nation? Yes or no? Is Palestine, as a nation, considered a nation with the right to live under humane conditions or not? Let's allow those rights to be enforced for these 5 million displaced people.

If you use common sense here and open open your eyes to his desires... It's not hard to see what he wants. And Nuclear power will advance his agenda rapidly.

Perhaps you can enlighten us and and describe detail how many peaceful uses of enriched uranium does Iran currently have in the works? And while you are at it, please explain how a "peace loving" country like Iran have a president whose stated goal is to wipe another country off the map?

What did they do to us? Holding our diplomatic (and therefore protected under international law) personnel hostage for 444 days for one. Financial, logistical and materiel support for groups which have caused the death of thousands of Americn soldiers and civilians abroad.

Try out this scenario: Iran enriches uranium to weapons grade then supplies it to terrorist group who smuggles and detonates nuke device within US borders? Washington manufactured or possible (and probble) worst case reality? Should it take thousands of casualties before the govrnment does anythng?

You are correct. I've changed my mind. Everyone has a Right to enrich Uranium. Let's forgive them for supplying arms and roadside bombs in Iraq, and I am positive Ahmadinejad never meant anything but good will to Israel. If we simply have faith in others then peace will come. Iran would never supply terrorists (again).

The white house is trying to get tougher sanctions imposed on Iran by ratification through the U.N. That is why he is still talking tough about Iran to the media, and, of course, the world.

You are VERY naive....

The report showed they DID have a nuclear weapons program. What is to say that if they were developing nuclear weapons in 2003 they wont start again?

Did the Iranian president just change his mind about his recent statement to "wipe Israel off the planet"

we don't know that iran has no weapons program. one intel report gave it's best guess that iran stopped pursuing nuclear weapons. that report is a best guess only, it's not gospel truth.

I made the mistake of reading all the mindless answers from Bush apologists before giving my own answer. Now I've got a very severe headache that could last for weeks. Better go back to bed-for a long time!

Well that would be fine, but they won't let anybody inspect and find out. Also, the president is a snake and he thinks he's fooling everyone. Haven't you seen him talk? Don't get me wrong, I don't like our current president but I'd actually believe him a little more than Abdinebejad. sp?
