I am researching ideas for an erotic novel. In this novel the entire town has been conditioned to accept taboo or nonconsentual acts. Some accept it willingly, while others just accept it as something they have to live with. I have found that either propaganda or the fear of harm. While I may use the fear route for some members of the town, I want the majority of them to be controlled by propaganda. I am having trouble though finding pro-taboo (meaning taboos are now no longer taboos) arguements. Can anyone suggest some examples that I could possibly use for the story?

taboos change as society changes. Things that were once unacceptable may become more accepted as society has more exposure to them. This happens especially with sex:

Porn is more accessable now- and the availability of home vhs/dvd players- almost everyone over age 11 has seen porn. Sex acts that once might have been taboo may now be less so because they've become more familiar to the general public (oral sex, girl-on-girl...)

anal sex/ anal play ect. was considered very taboo my most folks- especially heterosexual males- until the early/mid-nineties. Now it's fairly widely accepted- with plenty of pop-cultural references (Dan Savage's readers coining the term "pegging", the Peaches song "Back it up Baby").

There used to be a tribe (may still exist, I don't know) in Africa that believed Semen was a mans power.. and to release it was to release some of their power.. AND that there was only so much they had... so they would share that power with younger men to make them stronger... and by share I mean take them off to a camp when they were to become a man and take turns sodomizing the young man. All parties accepted it as a right of passage and a way of passing on strength.

Maybe you can get some ideas from this true story.

sure in all probability incest between long misplaced siblings-I recommend that's somewhat distasteful and in heterosexual incest if a infant is born it could have many wellbeing problems, yet we gained't quite say gay incest impacts every person else-sure we are able to even see it as disgusting and incorrect yet truly, they are no longer doing something to harm every person regardless of if that's certainly consensual...nonetheless I nevertheless won't be able to advocate it. I additionally think of possibly relationships between multipe human beings could be conventional, couple would now no longer encompass purely 2 human beings yet possibly 3 of four, back it does not harm every person yet is in maximum cases a taboo.
