"Is it because we have 26 RINGS and the classiest fans in the sport? Or because we have the best future in baseball??"
Yeah, this question speaks volumes about the class of your fans.
Isn't there a battery you want to throw at someone (joke people, philly fans do this)?
But I dont hate the Yankees, I actually respect the organization and tradition. I just dont like Steinbrenner and his merry bunch of fools. I mean seriously, you outspend every other team (save for a couple) 2:1 and you can't get outta the first round? Seriously?
It has more to do with the way they go about winning....they are essentially the bonds of baseball right now. they use an unfair advantage to win, just like Bonds tried to do.

I see alot of the childish answers, so I am going to try to answer this as diplomatic as possible. It's the attitude and expectations. I notice (living in the NY area) that most Yankee fans are arrogant, childish and spoiled. It's amazing what the Yankees have done in their history (26 rings geez), but fans of other teams don't need it shoved down their throat 24-7.
When the Yankees lost the past couple of years fans, media and the organization never admitted that a better or hotter team beat them. Most acted like it was an injustice done to the world that the yankees didn't win. It's sad to see sore losers. Give credit when credit is due. The Sox, Tigers and Indians came back and beat all odds and beat (what I considered at the time) the best team in baseball.
For me, I hate Michael Kay. I have never seen a broadcaster so far up ownership's a**. It's truly disgusting.
On the other hand, I respect the Yankees. They are an extreme force to be reckoned with. They have some of the most amazing talent that I will ever see. Posada, Jeter, Rivera and Arod are some of the most amazing players I have ever seen at their position. I also personally think, that Yankees of the mid to late 90's were a team to brag about. A lot of hardworking players and very few pre-madonnas. The above mentioned player minus Arod, Oneil, Williams were amazing to watch.

No it is not because the Yanks have 25 World Series championships nor because they have the classiest fans. It is simply because the Yankees are the Yankees. That is why people hate him. BTW, I am not a Red Sox fan. I am a loyal Tigers fan.

Well I am going to take a neutral take about this since I have not followed baseball in about 10 years and really do not have a favorite team, but I think it might have something to do with the owner and the fact that he thinks because he is Daddy Warbucks that he can throw money at a problem and make it go away, and the way he threw Torre away like a piece of crap when he was done with him show there is no loyalty to his madness, he is like Donald Trump, the elite who think they can buy a World Series ring or a Popular TV show and unfortunate for all of us they are right because we let them continue to be right, we watch the shows and buy the tickets that allow their like to destroy what was once good entertainment becomes very tainted.
Just my point of view!!!

"Hate" is too strong. People throw it around too loosely. If I actually hated them I'd want their plane to go down, and I do not want that, by any means. Can I differentiate between the players and the manager and Mr. Steinbrenner? I just can't see admiring Mr. Steinbrenner at all. However the players and managers have all been superb, the rings you speak of prove that. I think I dislike the Yankees because its like they are the rich kid at school who always wins everything and has no problem at all with nobody else ever winning anything. Thats just sports, though, I guess. Nobody'd admire them or even attend games if they didn't always play their hardest to win. It just would be nice to see other teams win it all sometimes. Classy fans? Gimme Giants fans any day!

Its a combination of being tired of always seeing the same team there at the end, and the fact that they "buy" their talent. I dont like the term buying their talent, the truth is they can afford to keep their talent. Posada, Cano, Jeter, Matsui, Cabrera, Hughes, Chamberlain, Kennedy, Pettitte, Rivera. Find me another team that will as many games that produced this much talent and then tell me how many years they will stay together. The fact of the matter is talent gets expensive as it evolves (ask the Marlins) and no other team is able to pay their talent to stay put like the Yankees are. And to anyone who says that is "bad for baseball", every good story has a bad guy, and as it was said in the trailers for Mel Gibson's 'Payback'; Get ready to root for the bad guy.

They hate the Yankees because the amount they spend on players a year is equal to the #5 man on Forbes richest person list, Steinbrenner is a jerk and they always load up with the best players, which other teams can't do. They still lose, so it's fun either way.

The Yankees have more fans and more haters than any other team in professional sports. People just love to hate a winner.

Because they have won so many titles for one thing and have more money than any other team in baseball too. They have a jerk for an owner and their fans are rude and obnoxious. Don't get me wrong here as I'm only speaking the truth of how non Yankee fans feel about them and being realistic. I have a lot of respect for their history and love such oldtime players as Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle etc.
