I understand how you feel!! I would want to drink too! Your best bet unforunately would be to get the cab. I know it sucks! Good luck and I hope you have fun!

The last place you want to drink alcohol is at a Company Party. The bosses will be watching you. You could make a fool of yourself if you are not careful. Either don't drink, or drink very light drinks, soda with a light splash of alcohol. Alternate it with a plain soda every other drink. That way every four (4) drinks you have will only have the alcohol content of one (1) drink. Or drink club soda with a lemon and a splash of wine. Drink less then one drink per hour and you will leave sober and able to drive without DWI. Get your own drinks that way you can control the amount of alcohol in the drink. Tell the bartender you want almost no alcolhol in the drink. The best advice I can give you is don't drink at a company party and leave early, before others get drunk. Good Luck.

The only thing you could do is have one watery drink when you first get there, and no more. Make sure it is hours until you try to drive.
Alternatives are pay the cab, or have a non-drinker, not one of the party, come get you and pick you up, and pay them. Maybe they will do it for a tank of gas.
Or not drink! If you don't want anyone to see you not drink, choose something that looks like booze, like an OJ. Believe me, when the drinking starts, nobody will notice you are not.
Beats being in jail, loosing your licence, and being unable to get to work!
Know that some offices do not have booze, and more are joining in, they do not want to be legally responsible for people who drive and drink.

I suggest limit your drinking or don't drink at all. Why endanger yourself and others with drinking at a holiday party? Is it that important? Seems kind of dangerous to do this.
Otherwise- ask at work --- those of you who plan on drinking may be able to share a cab ride home.

Why is drinking "expected"?? Drinking shouldn't be expected.. it's a personal choice. Actually, in my opinion, getting drunk at a company holiday party is a tacky no-no.. because you could end up saying or doing something unethical. I'd have a light drink or two before dinner.. eat to soak it up, stay sober and get home safely.

Don't drink then if you don't want to pay for a cab and there noone to drive you. Unless someone at your work won't be drinking could take you home.

If $100 for a cab isn't practical, then several thousand for a DUI really isn't practical!
Is there someone you trust who who would let you crash on their couch?
Otherwise it's time to be a grown-up and not consume more than one drink per hour.

why don't several of your coworkers and yourself hire the same cab, or car service, and split the cost if you absolutely cannot attend the party without getting sloshed? Otherwise, there must be a DD.
