That is really a geology question. An astronomer could tell you about a meteor you saw in the sky but if you found a rock on the ground that might be a meteorite, you need a geologist to verify that. Try the geology department at Rice University.

Check out any book by O. Richard Norton and compare it with pictures in his books. That will tell you a lot.

take it to the local museum or college, im sure some professor will be able to state where its from or wat type of rock it is
