I have to disagree with the suggestion that these trees are English yews (Taxus baccata). The picture is of Trajan's Column in Rome, Italy. The trees are too wide & do not have the growth habit of an English Yew. Here is a different picture of the column with the trees. You can see that they are long needled like a pine, not short needled like a yew. Here is the link: http://www.unc.edu/~bwynia/Trajans_column.html

In this next site I suggest you down load the 360 degree view of Piazza Venezia. This view will rotate past the column and you get a very good view of these trees. The bark and growth habit can be clearly seen and confirms that of a pine tree. Here is that link: http://www.italyguides.it/us/roma/venezia.htm

My guess is that these are Italian Stone or Umbrella Pines (Pinus pinea). Here is another pic from Rome of these pines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Umbrella.pine.in.rome.arp.jpg

My detractors will be all over my a** because I used a wikipedia site (cut & pasted another answer that's just a plagerization - NOT)! So be it. Also, GG is probably right on the Italian Cypress. Finally, she will be upset that I answered this question. Give her the BA because that is what seems to matter most to this group (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=An8UFK_YUw6ryactP0XXYYrsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071204205752AAy1Md1&show=7#profile-info-4569b23a3611fb03850cd42c9f2cb6baaa ). The 2 tall skinny trees in the background are Italian Cypress.
The others look full grown
