Certainly Both HD and Lowes sell surface mount hardware for the purpose. I used to call it Race Track.

Involved in that is the strips of molding backing with a cap to hide the wire, receptacle boxes; reduced size receptacles and switches; Corner caps moldings; etc.

I've used them often, and if aesthetics aren't a serious issue they deliver the same service. They are sold in both White and Almond as well.
