It varies. We are in Chicago. You can get a one hour consultation through the bar association for $25. We charge $300/hr for a lawyer and $100-150/hr for a paralegal, but I know of attorneys who charge $750/hr. If it is an injury case, many charge nothing, but get 25-30% of the settlement, if any. Also, we are nice and do not charge for every hour of preparation work, but some firms require each attorney to bill 2100 hours a year or more.

It varies allot. It depends on the lawyer and their specialty and what you asking them to do.
In many places you can get free legal advice for some types of problems from lawyers who are supported by donations and sometimes by the State.
here is an example of that in Georgia and you may find a similar organization in whatever state you live in ( http://www.glsp.org/ ).
On the other hand you could pay as much as 600 dollars per hour and some highly affluent lawyers charge considerably more then that. The average cost is around $266 per hour and the highest I have found was $998/hour. There are other cost that you can also end up paying in a complex trial besides the hourly fee. You could be charged for expert testimony, paralegals work, and various other research cost and filing fees. So it all depends on what you are trying to do and where you live and who you hire.

Varies from state to state; I've seen 40-120 an hour as a reasonable range for basic services; more for things like felony DUI and murder/assult/felony

They set their own fee schedules. You need to call around to get the correct info.
