I am a DJ in the country music genre. Does anyone have any idea why the state of Georgia is mentioned in about 15 songs we have?

I understand the pride in the south, but other well populated states like Texas and Alabama aren't sung about half as much. Can't be a regional thing, right? Because even the Carolinas aren't dropped as much!

I just don't get it.

Texas is all over country music. Listen just to George Strait and you will hear Texas in every song. People just love the state of Ga that is all and they want to show their pride.

I think I heard more references to Texas in country music, than I have Georgia. Why would it make any difference anyway?Maybe the song writer of the tune just likes a particular state!
