This morning my husband put some frozen blueberries in the microwave to thaw and one of them combusted! Is there something in blueberries that makes them flammable?

Last week I put a towel that I had dampened, in the microwave, and planned on wrapping it around my neck since I had fallen on ice and my neck was sore. At one time I had a rice wrap and that always seemed to work in the microwave. But the towel had a mind of its own, and it caught fire quickly.!

As for your blueberries. I eat frozen fruit almost every night from fruit that I've stored in the freezer from my summertime stash. What I do and it works every time, is place it in the microwave on defrost for just a minute. That seems to thaw it without making it soggy and it doesn't cook it up, it simply thaws it out. Maybe that will work for you as well.

Dont know about blueberries but we have started microwave popcorn on fire. Brand new microwaves work much better than my old one. How to get rid of the smell is my problem tried the vinegar and it still stinks.

Years ago when my son was a teenager, he put a hot dog in a baggie in the microwave. He didn't take the twist tie off and it caught on fire. Thank goodness he was right there and put it out. I don't know about blueberries. Thought they'd be OK.

Yes, it was a paper plate that caught fire in an old microwave we had. Now I always use microwave save dishes in there.

But, on today's news I heard that there is a major recall of microwaves because the internal parts can catch on fire! Here's a link to the story in case any of you have this brand . . .

I once put a potato in a microwave to bake. The microwave
never turned off and started a fire. One more minute and the
whole kitchen would have gone. I called the fire department
just in time. Fortunately, we all got out and the insurance covered it.

My friends best recipe when we were in school was burnt popcorn, done on a daily basis, the student lounge reeked, everyday. One would think after doing it a couple of times she would have cut the microwave time down, but no, she didn't. It is truly hard to get rid of that stench
