Just curious as to what melting products won't damage my driveway. The driveway is about 185 ft long and I wouldn't like to see the price of having it replaced.

Once living in the North; Rock Salt was a popular notion. The issue is with it's chemical make up and its properties of possibly etching; even concrete.

CMA (Calcium magnesium acetate) might be a better choice for you. But there are now several alternatives to salt.
