CO2 is ultimately converted into carbohydrate by the reactions of the "light independent" or "dark" reactions or Calvin-Benson cycle of reactions of photosynthesis. So, without CO2, there can be no photosynthesis.

Water is needed for many things. First, water is the source of electrons that is used to convert CO2 into carbohydrate. So, without water, you have no electrons available to make carbohydrate and so no photosynthesis. Water is also the medium in which all biological reactions occurs. In the absence of water, CO2 will not dissolve into a cell from the atomosphere.....

The "light reactions" of photosynthesis use the energy of light to convert water into O2, H+ and electrons bound to electron carriers.Any biology textbook will have a complete explanation of the stages of photosynthesis and the role of chlorophyll and water in the first part of photosynthesis.

I don't know WHY they are called thylakoids...

The light-dependent reactions all are catalyzed by enzymes that are located within the membranes of the thylakoids. The stroma is a compartment that contains the soluble enzymes that catalyze the "light independent reactions" of photosynthesis.

asyou already know,photosynthesis is divided into two distinct process(light and dark reaction)

light reaction
water is needed for this reaction.

when the sunlight reaches the chlorophyll,the electrons in it is excited and leave the chlorophyll.

on the other hand,when sunlight hits a molecule of water,it dissociates into hydrogen ions and hydroxyl ions

the electron that leaves the chlorophyll will combine with the hydrogen ions to form hydrogen gas.

when the hydroxyl ions combine to form hydroxyl group,electron will be released and oxygen gas is released.
the electron will combine with the chlorophyll.

dark reaction occur in the stroma.stroma doesn't have any chlorophyll and dark reaction didn't need any.

Actually Carbon Dioxide is synthesized with water using light energy and ultimately produces oxygen.

E We all know they need the CO2, but they also need H2O... the Oxygen they give off is actually from the water.. not the CO2.

i can answer the first question:

the oxygen comes from water in photosynthesis because the roots absorb water from the ground which contains air pockets. the water it absorbed as well as the air.

that's what i learnt anyway...
