Obviously many people up here cannot tell the difference between getting HELP with their homework and having us DO their homework for them.

The former are students who are NOT cheating and understand that this is a HELP site. I don't mind giving them suggestions, editing their work, helping with research, giving math examples (when I can).

The latter, unfortunately, seem to be in the majority. They are the ones that post their verbatim assignments, want us to write their sentences, paragraphs and essays. You can always tell the lazy ones and it gives me great joy to give them an answer they have to work with ... like a research site ... that does NOT answer the direct question.

The bigger question however, is how many of the answerers realize that they are ENABLING these cheaters? And that the more their work is done for them, the more they will cheat? And they will cheat on more and more important things. Just yesterday I saw a question asking for architecture exam answers. Do you want to hire that guy to build your next house?

Great question -- loved some of the answers TRYING to justify cheating.

It's not really cheating. If I ask a question on here, I usually ask my older sister for help first. If she doesn't know it, then I come here. When I answer certain questions, I don't just give the answer like some people. I actually explain my work so that the person understands.

Oh really? You may call it cheating, I call it another source of information besides a text book. I mean seriously, the only difference is where you find the answer. Do you call it cheating to look up how to do a problem in a text book? Or getting a study group together to study? Or going to the teacher for help? Its the same thing on here, just another source of info.

I call it creative.

I think 5.

Ok seriously, getting someone to DO your homework is cheating, but getting HELP is entirely not.

Of course they are cheating but some really need
that extra help in figuring out their homework.
I can always tell when students are being lazy
so I just give them a nudge toward their answers.

homework is supposed to help you understand a subject so that you can be prepared for a test. you are allowed to get help with homework but not with a test.
