Yes, it's an Italian tradition in my family that the men buy the women red undies on New Year's Eve. (there's nothing sexual about it.)

Well I dont know about luck for the whole year round, but you might get ...lucky with that red underwear on New Year's Eve.. ;) But then again if you take it off because you got lucky, would that mean you will have bad luck??? :)
