Start with 4000.

1/5 of 4000 = 800 leaves 3200
1/2 of 3200 = 1600

So she has 1600 remaining

"She gave 1/5 of it as a gift"
(1/5)$4000 = $800 gift
$4000-$800 = $3200 remaining

"She invested ½ of the remaining amount"
(1/2)$3200 = $1600 invested
$3200-$1600 = $1600 remaining

Well, 1/5 is 20%. 20% of $4000 is 800.

4000 - 800 = 3200.

1/2 of 3200 is 1600

She has 1600 left

Earning = $ 4,000

Give 1/5 to her daughter & son-in-law

4,000 x 1/5 = 4,000/ 5 = $ 800
Remaining amount = 4,000 - 800 = $ 3,200
Invest 1/2 of 3,200 = 1/2 x 3,200 = 3,200/2 = $ 1,600

hOW MUCH DID SHE HAVE LEFT?

4,000 - 800 - 1,600 = $ 1,600 ==> LEFT TO HER
