Personally, I don't. But, it does point out how shallow much of the American public is.

We don't care what they think (most of us), but they can create buzz about a candidate and if they show up to an event for the candidate people who might not go otherwise may go to the event just to see the star and end up listening to the message from the candidate.
Outside of a select few stars who have followers who might care about their personal opinions (Oprah comes to mind from this election), who they support is of little consequence.
Also, many stars have an ability to generate free conversations about a candidate and in the age of media, that can be very important as well. If the press spends 3 days talking about a candidate because Chuck Norris supports them, well then that is a significant boost.

i think you hit the nail on the head. i have no idea why candidates allow themselves to even be seen with celebrities as they have absolutetly nothing in common with the regular folks of America. And furthermore celebrities arent even much respected by people, i think most people think they are pretty much a joke. unfortunately many people actually look up to celebrities and that is a shame. these celebrities are shamelessly using their fame to wield power in an arena where they just dont belong, look at Oprah practically sponsoring Obama, i wish she would get a reality check, but unfortunately thats the only kind of check shell never get.

I couldn't care less about what candidate a movie star backs. They do have a right to their own political views the same as the rest of us American citizens and they even have the right to be outspoken about that candidate, as we do. But still, I couldn't care less about who they support. I only care about who I support.

Movie stars are just very public figures giving them a sort of platform. Don't forget that one of our most popular presidents was a movie star before becoming a politician.

I don't like most of their views for the main reason they don't back up the Constitution. It would be different if they were backing the Constitution but without that it's just speculation and guessing on what political view is right. That is why I am supporting Ron Paul because he supports the Constitution not because he has celebrities supporting him.

Honestly, I don't know why people value the opinions of entertainers over any other random person when it comes to politics. These people are entertainers...many aren't even high school graduates. They are great for performing, but intellectually they are not in any way superior to anyone else.
Their endorsements mean nothing more to me than the endorsement of any other American Citizen.
