or is it better to go to a normal doctor first and let him send you to the gyneagologist?

Just asking as I gave my other friend some advice on this, but I could see she is not satisfied with how I did it.

Maybe someone has a better way?? Lol ... first timers....thanks :)

I would not see any point in going to a regular doc first unless you have to have a referral for insurance to cover the exam. For the first time, try to relax. It is not fun but it could be worse. A nurse will be in the room the whole time. They will know it is your first time, so just be calm. If you have questions, make a list so you dont forget them once you are in the exam room. You will have an opportunity either before or after (or both) to speak with doctor and ask questions. Either wear or take socks--that sounds stupid but the rooms are usually really cold, helps your feet. There really is no good way to prepare for the first time, just do it.

did she ask you about this or did you think you had to give her this advise because she hasn't went (yet)?

Just tell her that it's not a must to go to the gyn, it's not necessary for a woman to have pelvic exams in order to stay healthy and alive. This is just a medical myth.

Stop upsetting your friend and make her know that not all women do this ****

Ask a woman friend to recommend a gynecologist. If this doesn't work, get a recommendation from your family doctor.
