...do at Christmas? Meaning where do you spend Christmas? My mum has a small flat, so do all us siblings., Every Christmas 16 odd people pile into my sister's 2 bed flat for Christmas. ANd that number is growing as we are all having children lol

i am just curious - does everybody struggle the same way as we do the accommodate the ever-increasing family at Christmas?

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

Usually we visit my family (11 people in all) at my mothers house on Christmas eve. We stay there but my sister and her family near by so it's no big deal for them to drive over for a visit.
On or after Christmas we visit my husbands side (usually 11 people in all there, too) but only 4 extra people stay with her. We stay through the day.
It gets crowded no matter where we go. And it's so LOUD at my parents house. It gets anyone a good headache going. All in all we just kinda deal. lol
I know one family that it's so crowded for dinner they actually go to this place where they serve up Christmas dinners (full turkeys etc) per table of 12 , and you can spend all day there. There might be a place simlilar to you that does that.

My husband's side of the family is very large, so his Mom has an open house on Christmas Eve. She sets out some picnic food, and people come and go from 3pm to 10pm at their convenience. It's rare that everyone is there at once, so it's never crowded, but everyone gets to come by.

My family growing up would just limit it to one side of the family and not all members. The distance may have been a factor. Now, it's fairly small because it's just the immediate family. We don't see the extended family at Christmas anymore. We see them at other times of the year. My husband's family just meet to exchange gifts and talk. It's kind of staggered in terms of arrival times. If it's getting to be too large then you may need to be more flexible in how things are done.

I do have enough room at my place for my 2 parents 2 in-laws from the wife, her 1 sister and 1 brother in-law her 1 nephew, brother in-laws 3 daughters, my 1 sister, brother in-law, my 1 niece, 2brother in-laws parents, my 1 daughter , 5 dogs and me and the wife.
And don't get me wrong, I had a very modest upbringing...handme down clothes and the whole nine yards. Hotdogs and mac and cheese were a lot of dinners in the 80's

With 7 kids, 6 spouses, 13 grandkids and my 2 parents, we can no longer do christmas at any of the houses. We use our local church building for our big events.
