If there is a company called Blah Blah Pty (Ltd) , can I then register a company with that same name but as a cc? ie Blah Blah cc .

I believe so. They are not alike. That's why some company's have they same name but they have different spelling.

There are factors that depend on how big the other company is. A large company may have its name registered as its trademark. Then comes nick names like Coke. Common terms like "Golden State" Plumbing, accounting, etc etc abound in the California phone books. The name I use for my business is shared, to an extent, with others.

Again it depends on the name you poach, how large they are, if a court might view it as an attempt to compete by deceiving customers. The foot print of each comes into play as well.

What might happen ranges from nothing all the way to you having nothing.

as most big companies and even small ones are
