The Xbox 360 arcade version is replacing the old core version. It's essentially the old core with a small memory card that has 5 games on it. All of those games are also available to other 360 owners for download from Xbox Live Arcade for a few bucks. You can also play the 360 games you buy on CD like Call of Duty. The big downside is that it does not have a proper hard drive, only a small memory card that has most of its space taken up by the games it comes with. I don't know for sure if it's controller is wired or wireless, but I suspect it's wired like the old core version.

Personally, I would go for the 360 premium package (which is what I own). You get a wireless controller and a 20GB hard drive, which is great for saving games, downloading demos and games from xbox live, etc. Right now you can also get it bundled with 2 games (Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance) and in some stores you can find packages with more games thrown in too.

That's just a regular XBox 360, but it comes with some arcade games. Also, it has a memory card instead of a hard drive. Really, I would recommend gettting any version (except the core) over that version.

Original post is under this:

On the 360 arcade you can buy (keyword: buy. There are two or three free games, only one is any good in my opinion) lots of games. There aren't any huge retail games like Call of Duty on there. The selection consists entirely of old arcade games (and maybe a few console games, I think they were in the arcades first though) and small games made by whatever development teams microsoft has working on them.

If you have an xbox 360 you can see everything they have. Just hook it up to the internet and go to the section for it in the dashboard. You don't have to pay for xbox live to download the games, but you have to pay for the individual games regardless of whether or not you have live.

If you're wondering, you can buy points to get the games either buy getting a points card at a game store (Gamestop for instance) or with a credit card online. If you put in the credit card information they authorize it almost instantly and add the points to your account immediately

The only weird thing is the way points are set up. All games are sold in multiples of four hundred points (400 800 1200 1600 etc.) but points are sold in multiples of five hundred (500 1000 etc.) and cost multiples of $6.25

Basically its replacing the core version so Microsoft can up there sales percentage. Its a great idea b/c arcade games are fun and addicting, they bring back the classics. And yes you can still play retail games like COD on there. Xbox 360 games and Xbox original games as well. Good Luck!!

X-Box arcade are small games that you purchase and download on line.
I don't think that there is anything as big and as sophisticated and _Call of Duty_ on there.
A lot of the games are pretty good.
