i have a little bonzi tree, it doesn't look like a typical bonzi tree it looks like a normal tree with leaves only little.

i've had it for about five years and i moved recently and the tree got knocked and now it only have about half as much soil, i think that it needs a bigger pot anyways thought so can i just put it in a new pot or should it be professionally handled?

it looks somewhat like this

It is completely okay and necessary to repot your bonsai in order to maintain a healthy plant.
Here is an expert village video all about repotting a bonsai tree with visual step by step instructions. These videos are great and I refer to them often as well as share them with other Y!A members.

You can do it yourself, but you should go to some websites to study up on the technique a little before trying it. Probably all you need to do is some minor root trimming and put in new soil. Remember that bonsais don't use regular old potting soil. Different plants need different mixes. With tropicals like that, I've had some success with mixing loam based potting mix with a little bit of pulverized clay and standard top soil.

If it has a root ball it was meant to be replanted. Instructions should be attached to the tree. I've replanted several but all died because they weren't the right kind of tree for my climate and soil.
